Meowy Christmas

I like to troll thrift stores for old craft books and the best ones are usually found at the “Bibles For Missions” shop down the street from my building. Recently, I came across a hardcover Better Homes and Gardens’ book called Easy Bazaar Crafts. It just reeked of “country ducks” and calico, so naturally I had to peruse.
The publication date of 1981 was made more than obvious from the assorted projects within, including quilted tea cozies, ragdolls, decorated sweatshirts, and crocheted baby clothes, but I was not quite prepared for the two page “Meowy Christmas” spread on pages 64 – 65.
I laughed so hard my knees buckled and I could hardly string words together to alert Shaun to my exemplary find. This shop is fairly small, but I assume that the staff there have long since figured out that I am not the most subtle person in the world, so I was not too concerned.
The woman in the photo gives new meaning to the phrases “crazy cat lady” and “obsessive compulsive disorder,” not to mention providing a solid argument for spending more time with old folks lest they be left to their own devices.
So please remember to visit your grandparents this holiday season.
We’ll be back on Monday.
