Electric Six “Rocks Ass” At Dante’s
Published on November 29th, 2009 in: Concert Reviews, Current Faves, Issues, Music, Reviews |Before the last song of the set, “I Buy The Drugs,” Valentine pulled a Ziggy Stardust, announcing that they were “shutting it down.” They had decided to stay in Oregon and “go into business with our drummer’s dad.” They played what was to be their last song, and Valentine left the stage. The logistics of getting all six members off and back on the stage were deemed too time-consuming, I assume, so the rest of the band just put down their instruments and turned away from the audience.
Valentine had a change of heart and returned, having decided not to shut it down after all. He announced that for the encore they’d be playing a “Dance Trilogy,” being songs that all started with “Dance”: “Dance Pattern,” “Dance Epidemic,” and “Dance Commander.” Then the show was really over, and it was very clear that local boys Electric Six had truly rocked ass.

The part about INXS performed during the “break” cracked me up. There are so few bands who do this sort of thing sincerely and well, and apparently E6 can now join the ranks of bands like Redd Kross, who are infamous for this sort of thing.
One day I will see E6 live! This I vow! Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you.
