It’s been an inarguably great year to be a Netflix subscriber; the catalogue of lush original content has grown to its highest peak to date and while the service still provides a large amount of stinkers–we shall never talk about Fuller House, Marco Polo, or any of those new Adam Sandler films again—its substantial programs far outweigh its competitors. Movie Review: The Fear of 13

Some say life is stranger than fiction; The Fear of 13, a documentary by British filmmaker David Sington, is a whirlwind collection of unbelievable anecdotes told by Death Row prisoner Nick Yarris, which seem too crazy not to be true. Now available on streaming giant Netflix, the film publicizes humane perspectives of criminals, and those often unfairly tossed aside by society.

Netflix Review: That Gal Who Was In That Thing: That Guy 2

That Gal . . . Who Was in That Thing is the companion to 2012’s male-skewed doc of a similar name. While both films focus on what it’s like to be a character actor (a.k.a. someone not typically cast in leading roles), That Guy… played chicken with being overlong and repetitive. Gal gives us the opposite, trading personal tales of woe and triumphs for larger and more unsettling subjects.

TV Review: Trailer Park Boys S10 E09, “Thugged Out Gangsta Sh*t”

Anyone who knows Trailer Park Boys knows that the second-last episode of any given season is the most action-packed. In the latest installment, it is no different as Julian’s plan to save the park fails, the celebrity guest stars head out of town, and Lahey falls so far off the wagon that he shoots Ricky, essentially killing him.

TV Review: Trailer Park Boys, S10 E05, “If You Don’t Believe It It’s Not Real”

After watching “If You Don’t Believe It, It’s Not Real,” it becomes apparent that Season 10 is a slow burn, hopefully one with a large payoff.

The fifth episode has the boys heading out on another job (for those who are counting, this is job number five). The danger attached to each attempt at fast cash is growing exponentially, and the latest hits a new peak.
