There are quite a few bat shit crazy horror films that exist in this world. I’m not talking about just the bizarre films, I’m talking about the shit that makes you wonder what the hell you just watched and what the hell was going on during filming. Night Train To Terror is one of those films that make you say “WTF” in the beginning, middle, and end. After it is all over you still don’t know if what you saw was real.

Night Train To Terror is a horror anthology filled with music sequences and bloodshed while God and the Devil watch the stories that we are seeing. Yes, I just said God and the Devil and that is your cue to go to Amazon and put it in your cart and have it shipped to your house. Did I mention it opened with a musical sequence? Well, it has a few musical numbers and you will be singing “Dance with me, dance with me” for the rest of your life after you watch this film.

Would I consider Night Train To Terror a good film? Maybe, but that is coming from a sense of it being something that you have never before and probably never will encounter during the course of your movie watching. I would call this film more of an experience rather than a good film but it is something that any horror fan would enjoy and anyone who enjoys a total mind-you-know–what.

Vinegar Syndrome does their magic once again, releasing another “unknown” film into the world so people can see it again and it doesn’t get lost in the depths of the lost films. I don’t think Night Train To Terror is for everyone but neither are the other films that Vinegar Syndrome releases on their label. That wasn’t meant to sound pretentious but there is a select audience for these films. It doesn’t mean that everyone can’t enjoy them. Mainly you just have to know what you are getting into when it comes to something like this because it is a world that most are unfamiliar with except film fanatics. For example: if you put Night Train To Terror on for your grandparents they might try to have you committed.

Night Train To Terror looks and sounds great on this Blu and the musical numbers throughout the film have never looked or sounded better than this release. This is exactly why Vinegar Syndrome is an extremely reliable company. It’s never a question if the product looks or sounds the best because that is a given with anything that Vinegar Syndrome puts their hands on.

Along with the badass transfer they have included an awesome interview with the director Jay Schlossberg-Cohen and a hilarious commentary called The Hysteria Continues in which the narrators provide humorous (at times) observations, pointing out goofs and little things they have noticed watching this film. They also included another feature entitled Gretta, which flows perfectly with Night Train To Terror. That feature is at a different level, but it is nonetheless an apt combo.

Vinegar Syndrome has provided us with a 2K transfer from the 35mm film elements and the DTS HD Master Audio 2.0 mono track. The means that “Everybody But You” sounds excellent and makes you want to get up and dance. Thank you again, Vinegar Syndrome for providing me with something as special as Night Train To Terror on Blu-Ray and allowing me to relive part of my childhood once again.

Night Train To Terror was released on Blu-Ray by Vinegar Syndrome on October 8, 2013.
