The Red Shoes, Director Kim Yong-gyun (2005)

This movie, which has its origins in a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, tells the modern day, fateful tale of a cursed pair of red shoes. Once someone picks them up, sorrow ensues. Will the secret behind the curse be revealed? Interestingly, it is the only Korean film I’ve seen to involve a character who was poor.

Cello, Director Lee Woo-cheol (2005)

In this film, a woman fleeing from her past of a tragic and horrific car accident, finds her seemingly perfect, re-built life start to spiral out of control when the ghosts of her past begin to re-emerge. This one features an incredibly creepy child (think The Omen).

The Ghost, a.k.a. Dead Friend (Ryeong), Director Kim Tae-gyeong (2004)

In this movie, a woman, again fleeing from her own past, must relive a traumatic childhood murder in order to try to save her former classmates and herself. Just what was it that she and her friends did to that other girl in high school? Bonus content in this one for those who like Ouija Boards!

So there you have it. If you have any recommendations for other Korean Horror movies, please let me know!
