Popshifter: Awesome! Are you a big fan of Halloween?

Toren Atkinson: I am a big fan of Halloween. It was always my favorite. I think the novelty of Halloween is not as strong for me as with other people anymore as I play in a band where we dress up all year ’round. So the running joke is that when we have a Halloween show we just dress up in our street wear because that’s a change for us. But usually we come up with some other concept that we do just for that show. We’re kinda known for the Thickets Halloween show, it’s one of those things around town that people look forward to. If you’re going to come to a Thickets show, the Halloween show is the one to come to.

Popshifter: And what would set apart the Halloween show from a regular one? I mean, other than you in your civvies?

Toren Atkinson: Haha, well that’s a joke but we don’t actually do it. Usually we’ll play the rest of the year with whatever costumes we’ve got in our current lineup and then for Halloween we’ll either custom make something or pull out something from our retro, old catalog of stuff. I remember one time for Halloween we basically did do the KISS thing and I dressed up in makeup and all that which is something I normally don’t do (laughs). And I remember another Halloween show we had, we did a costume change in the middle of the show which is another thing we don’t usually do. So we had double the costumes.

Popshifter: That’s a very Britney Spears thing to do, I think!

Toren Atkinson: Yeah, for sure! I’m for that, I’m not against it!
