The Passions were never influenced by the Gang of Four, although they were friends of Sara Lee, the GoF's bass player at the time. I believe you are thinking of the Specials, who are indeed mentioned in the liner notes of this CD re-issue. The Passions were only signed to Fiction for the release of their first album 'Michael & Miranda' and the single 'Hunted', all subsequent releases including 'Film Star' and 'Skin Deep' were through Polydor. The Passions were indeed a fabulous band and I agree that they never really got their due. Nice review but a couple of errors!
