For Your Consideration: An Interview with Trztn of Services

I also read in another interview that you think you look ridiculous onstage when you view footage. . . if that’s the case, how did you muster up the gumption to get butt-ass naked onstage in Omaha? Is it one of those things that, when you perform live, you sort of go into a zone where the adrenaline is flowing so strong that nothing seems to phase you? Also, did you get arrested in Omaha for that stunt?
Taking my clothes off was the perfect descriptive expression and seemed like the only choice if I was to be honest. . . the last few songs of a grueling tour, growing out of control, shedding a new skin, or taking the burning past off. Indecent exposure, lewd conduct, and inciting a riot were what they charged me with. All the charges were eventually dropped. I will not forget that night.

Where was the video for “Element of Danger” filmed, who directed it, and who are your guests in it?
That was our good friend Jon Santos who directed it. It was shot in a house upstate in the Catskills. Across the street from the house was an abandoned church where we also did some scenes. This area of the Catskills is very strange because it is quite hidden. . . most of the property is either owned by Hasidic Jews, or the Mafia. All the extras are friends (designers and musicians) who donated a weekend out of their time to rock the killer vid.

presenter

Onto the latest. . . you’ve recently released a new single titled “Presenter.” The cover art is interesting. . . it looks like someone got a money-shot in the eye! Who modeled for it, and who designed it? [That image literally makes me flinch!—Julz]
The cover art was made by acclaimed artist Urs Fischer deliberately for the “Presenter” single and upcoming EP. When it comes to Urs. . . I don’t ask any questions!

Also, where was the video for “Presenter” filmed? That video is fucking awesome! I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard at a video in a long time. Did you and Chris accidentally injure each other?
The video was filmed in a farm in New Jersey. It was directed by Barney Clay, who makes a living doing music videos, and is also my cousin. I was a complete wreck after that video because every scene had to be done over and over again. . . all the running, fighting, hot and cold, wet/dry/mud. . . etc. . . etc.

I also see that you’re in the business of doing remixes and production. You’ve done mixes for the Melted Men as well as Foetus. Any others I’m leaving out you’d like to discuss further?
None. Love remixes though!

So when you did the remix for Foetus, did JG Thirlwell assign you a song, or did you pick which one you wanted to do? I think that yours, Tom Recchion’s, and JG’s were the best on the album overall.
Jim picked it—I know Jennifer Charles the featured singer, so it seemed apropos. . . I have great admiration for Jim. [Me too!—Julz]
